Overview
Johnston County Department of Social Services has an immediate opening for an Income Maintenance Caseworker III. The Income Maintenance Caseworker III supports the intake supervisor and intake team by providing direct assistance to customers throughout the application and recertification process. This includes collecting, reviewing, and verifying required documentation to send to the processing and recertification teams for Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) and Medicaid, while ensuring compliance with program policies and procedures.
This position reports to the Intake Supervisor, Economic Services Program Manager and the Economic Services Division Director.
- The primary purpose of the Income Maintenance Case Worker III position is to serve as a subject matter expert to Income Maintenance workers and assist the Income Maintenance supervisor with taking applications and recertifications for FNS and Medicaid, keying the information into NCFAST, receiving verifications for both programs, answering customer questions, following policies, procedures and federal guidelines for both programs.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the NC FAST system, policy knowledge of Food and Nutrition Services and Medicaid.
- Support the intake team by answering questions and handling complex application and recertification issues.
- Review and monitor case accuracy, timeliness, and documentation to maintain program integrity and compliance.
- Assist the front desk staff by answering questions and assisting with assigning customers.
- Pull and analyze reports to monitor caseload trends and program performance.
- Assist the supervisor by working closely with the team, working with customers and answering questions.
- Work with other duties as assigned such as Shelter or Emergency Management duties during a disaster.
- Thorough knowledge of any FNS, Medicaid or any other Economic Services program.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, policies and eligibility systems.
- Considerable knowledge of the agency's organizational rules, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to organize and consolidate information, maintain records, prepare reports, formulate treatment plans and complete other caseload management functions.
- Possess and demonstrate the ability to engage and teach staff skills needed to perform assigned work tasks including use of computer systems and software.
- Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
- Ability to recognize, collect, and evaluate evidence to support actions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, community agencies, law enforcement agencies to obtain or present pertinent data.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and the general public.
- Ability to conduct interviews/assessments, summarize and interpret findings.
- Knowledge of agency and community programs and services which could assist clients.
- Ability to intervene and assess client complaints, provide feedback to client caseworkers, supervisors and IM Administrators.
- Ability to present information orally or in written form.
