Dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic and sexual violence in Wake County, Interact saves lives, rebuilds lives, and secures safer futures for victims and survivors and their families. Each member of Inter Act’s staff fulfills an important role in furthering our mission.

Domestic Violence Case Manager is a member of Inter Act’s Personal and Economic Empowerment Team and provides trauma-informed case management, advocacy, and support services to adult victims and survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. This position requires a strong commitment to client-centered advocacy, safety planning, and empowerment. The Case Manager works collaboratively with clients and community partners to support safety, stability, and long-term independence.

Key Responsibilities Client Services and Advocacy
  • Provide trauma-informed counseling, advocacy, and case management services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify client strengths, needs, barriers, and goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized, strength-based service plans focused on safety, housing stability, economic empowerment, and self-sufficiency.
  • Provide court advocacy and hospital and/or Solace Center response and support, as needed.
  • Participate in the agency’s on-call rotation, including scheduled crisis line and walk-in coverage, with periodic overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Housing and Economic Stability Support
  • Assess housing barriers and eligibility for housing assistance and related resources.
  • Develop housing-focused case management plans, including intake assessments and goal planning.
  • Support clients in securing and maintaining housing by addressing barriers, coordinating referrals, and providing ongoing advocacy.
  • Educate clients on tenant rights and responsibilities, including basic lease terms.
  • Provide proactive housing and budget counseling, including support with personal budgeting and financial planning.
Groups, Training, and Community Engagement
  • Facilitate and manage the Domestic Violence Education Support Group.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to volunteers and interns.
  • Represent Inter Act in the community through outreach, training, collaboration, and partnership development.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, Inter Act, and community partners, including landlords and service providers.
Documentation, Compliance, and Team Participation
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records in Empower DB, including case notes, demographic information, and progress documentation.
  • Complete required paperwork, data collection, and grant reporting in accordance with program and funder requirements.
  • Adhere to all agency confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Attend and actively participate in supervision, team meetings, training, and professional development activities.
  • Complete required onboarding training and a minimum of 20 hours of continuing education annually.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a demanding workload.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and solution-focused case management practices.
  • Understanding of tenant rights and responsibilities; familiarity with Housing First principles preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources, social service systems, and housing providers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, volunteers, interns, and community partners.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and crisis-intervention skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Basic computer proficiency required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related human services field and three (3) years of experience working with survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault or in case management OR Five (5) years of equivalent relevant experience.
  • Ability to pass a background check in accordance with Inter Act standards.
  • Compliance with Inter Act’s Communicable Disease Policy.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.
