- Strong management experience (non-negotiable)
- Experience managing multiple teams (3 teams)
- Experience managing junior managers (2–3 direct manager reports)
- Ability to oversee ~25 total engineers
- Backend engineering & platform software development background
- Hands‑on coding ~20% of the time
- Architectural + design experience
- Familiar with cloud (AWS), Java (incl. Java 21), Kubernetes, Solr, Kafka, data pipelines, Apache Flink or ETL frameworks
- Comfortable working with US + India distributed teams
- Must come from mid‑size to large companies (not startup‑heavy)
- Should actively use AI tools/day‑to‑day (best practice expectations)
- Search technologies background
- AI/ML experience (not required)
- Data warehousing experience
- Experience supporting UK region products
