AWS Java ETL Developer

Job Description

The client is looking to hire an AWS/Java developer with 8‑10 years of software development experience. This role involves close collaboration with data modernization teams to design, implement, and manage AWS solutions that align with technical requirements and business objectives.

Raleigh, NC. Hybrid work model with onsite presence required.

• Proficient in using various AWS services (e.g., VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue, Crawlers, Athena) to build and manage cloud infrastructure (5+ years)
• Strong experience in Java, J2EE, Java Spring framework, and Hibernate technology (7+ years)
• Experience modernizing applications, including refactoring, migration, and cloud‑native development (5+ years)
• Knowledge of modern database technologies and strategies for migrating and modernizing database systems (5+ years)
• Experience with Dev Ops practices and automation tools (5+ years)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and stakeholders (7+ years)
• Experience creating AWS ETL jobs and data pipelines with high data volumes (3+ years)

• Experience with data analytics and business intelligence solutions such as Power BI or AWS Quick Sight
• Experience in state government environments (nice to have)

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose effective modernization strategies
• Design, develop, and test Java-based cloud‑native applications and backend systems
• Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines
• Analyze data models and business requirements
• Validate data integrity by querying databases to ensure correct insertion, updating, and deletion by applications
• Design, create, and execute test cases
• Perform back‑end testing to validate logic and data processing not visible through the user interface
• Work closely with developers and business analysts to understand data requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage
• Utilize AWS services within application architecture
• Develop, debug, and deliver solutions within timelines using best tools and practices
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring security best practices and maintaining clean, efficient code
• Monitor application performance and optimize for cost, security, and reliability
• Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and challenges
• Ensure adherence to standards and best practices
• Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and team members to refine requirements and deliver solutions
