Baxter seeks an ambitious R&D Manager to join our Care Communications business in Raleigh, NC. The role focuses on leading the successful completion of software development projects within quality, time, and budget constraints. The manager will lead a technical team and apply expertise to review and approve complex development concepts, ensuring flawless execution.
What You'll Do- Lead and develop a team of 6 engineers
- Serve as a critical-path R&D resource, directly influencing delivery timelines and product quality
- Provide clear people leadership to a long-tenured team, navigating established ways of working while driving continuous improvement
- Own delegation and prioritization across two major work streams:
- Next Gen product development
- Sustaining / Legacy platform (new features and enhancements)
- Partner closely with stakeholders to drive embedded build automation and improve development efficiency
- Balance technical decision-making with coaching, alignment, and stakeholder communication
- Act as a core R&D team member, helping define how development and testing are done
- Drive execution, accountability, and outcomes across the team
- Grow into the Core Team Lead for R&D within 12 months, serving as the R&D “face” for your product area
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 8+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience
- Proficiency with embedded development
- Recognized as a subject matter expert in software development fields
- Experience with microcontrollers and C/C++
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a diverse team to solve complex problems
- Experience developing and delivering software solutions to market
- Ability to foster a culture of innovation to accelerate product development
The estimated base salary for this position is $144,000‑$198,000 annually. This range reflects anticipated market adjustments and may vary based on location, skills, and experience. The role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
