DHHS‑ITD is looking to hire an AWS/Java developer with 8‑10 years of software development experience. This role involves close collaboration with the data modernization teams at ITD and DPH to design, implement, and manage AWS solutions that align with their technical requirements and business objectives.
Skill Sets & Experience- Experience in modernizing legacy applications, including refactoring/migrating in‑house legacy applications to the cloud environment.
- Proficient in utilizing AWS services and related components to build enterprise‑level Data Lakes.
- Hands‑on Java skills – strong Java, J2EE, Spring Framework & Hibernate technology.
- Experience working with any transactional or relational database management systems.
- Experience with Dev Ops practices and automation tools.
- SQL – Writing complex queries, understanding database relationships, debugging, and performance tuning.
- ETL tools – Hands‑on experience with cloud‑based ETL solutions.
- Understanding of data modeling.
- Knowledge or experience using any ETL tools, and data analytics with Power BI or AWS Quick Sight is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum framework environments.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose effective modernization strategies.
- Design, develop, and test Java‑based, cloud‑native applications and backend systems.
- Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines.
- Analyze data models and business requirements.
- Validate data integrity by querying the database and ensuring accurate insertions, updates, and deletions.
- Design, create, and execute test cases.
- Perform backend testing to validate logic and data processing not visible in the UI.
- Work closely with developers and business analysts to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Utilize AWS services within application architecture.
- Develop, test, debug, and deliver within timelines using best tools and practices.
- Participate in code reviews, enforce security best practices, and maintain clean, efficient code.
- Monitor application performance and optimize for cost, security, and reliability.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and challenges.
- Ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and team members to refine requirements and deliver solutions.
- Proficient AWS services (VPC, EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, API Gateway, Glue Crawlers, Athena) –
