Automation Engineer
This organization is transitioning to a service-centric, machine-readable operating model to enable end-to-end system understanding, management, and automation. The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing automated workflows that operationalize service-aware processes. This role converts operational procedures, governance requirements, and service intelligence into structured, executable workflows that drive consistent outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain workflows using Flow Designer and related automation capabilities.
- Develop reusable flows, subflows, and actions for enterprise-scale use cases.
- Translate business and operational processes into automated workflows.
- Embed governance rules and approval models into workflow logic to prevent non-compliant or unauthorized actions.
- Build workflows supporting the change lifecycle, including validation, approvals, and execution gating.
- Enable incident routing, triage, and enrichment workflows.
- Design workflows with error handling, retry, and fallback logic to ensure automation is resilient.
- Monitor workflow performance and improve processes to reduce cycle time and eliminate inefficiencies.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience designing and implementing workflows in Service Now Flow Designer or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of workflow orchestration and process automation principles.
- Experience translating business requirements into automated solutions.
- Proven ability to build scalable and reliable automation in large enterprise environments.
- Experience participating in and delivering outcomes for large, enterprise-level initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Experience supporting service-centric or Service-Aware operating models.
- Familiarity with governance automation and policy-as-code concepts.
- Experience with ITSM processes such as change and incident management.
- Background in banking or other regulated enterprise environments.
- Experience with Service Now core products including CMDB, CSDM, Discovery, ITSM, ITOM, and Service Mapping.
