• 7+ years of professional experience with Java and Python development
• 7+ years of experience designing and developing SOAP/REST APIs, backend services, and microservices
• 7+ years of experience working with relational databases, including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, and Ingres
• 5+ years of senior-level experience writing, optimizing, and performance tuning complex SQL queries
• Experience using Git/Subversion, Linux/Unix environments, and version-controlled development workflows
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills across multiple programming languages and platforms

• Experience with legacy system modernization and migration initiatives
• Hands-on experience using Perl for scripting, system utilities, or maintaining legacy applications
• Experience with cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Experience developing ETL processes, data pipelines, or batch-processing solutions
• Familiarity with Git/Subversion, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery practices

The client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Java/Python Application Systems Developer to design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications, backend services, automation tools, and legacy system integrations for the Office of the North Carolina Chief Medical Examiner. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, experience with both modern and legacy technologies, and the flexibility to work across diverse application environments.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services using Java, Python, and Perl
• Develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and system integrations with internal and external applications
• Modernize and refactor legacy Perl applications into scalable, modern architectures
• Create automation scripts, system utilities, and scheduled processes to support IT operations
• Write clean, efficient, scalable, and maintainable code following industry best practices
• Design, develop, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data processing workflows
• Participate in architecture reviews, technical design discussions, sprint planning, and code reviews
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues across multiple technologies and environments
• Deploy and support applications in cloud and on-premises environments, including Azure, AWS, GCP, and Linux/Unix
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality software
• Create and maintain technical documentation for applications, integrations, and operational processes
