Title: Application Java Developer
Location: Raleigh, NC
Duration: 12 Months
- Develop and maintain backend applications and services using Java, Python, and Perl
- Build RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration points with internal and external systems
- Modernize and refactor existing Perl-based or legacy applications into modern architectures
- Create automation scripts, system tools, and scheduled jobs to support IT operations
- Write clean, efficient, and scalable code following best practices and coding standards
- Design and implement SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-processing workflows
- Participate in architecture discussions, technical design sessions, and sprint planning
- Debug and resolve complex issues across multiple languages and platforms
- Deploy applications to cloud or on premise environments (Azure, AWS, GCP, Linux/Unix)
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions
- Maintain documentation for systems, integrations, and processes
- Proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, Maven)
- Proficiency in Python
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, backend architecture, and microservices
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Ingres)
- Experience with Git/Subversion, Linux/Unix environments, and version‑controlled development
- Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills across languages and environments
- Hands‑on experience with Perl for scripting, system utilities, or legacy app maintenance
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with ETL, data pipelines, or batch processing
- Experience with version control (Git/Subversion) and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with legacy system migration projects – Preferred – 5 years
