NC State University is hiring a Junior Research Software Engineer, LAS. The role focuses on developing innovative technology solutions to support advanced analytical work within the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences, involving applied research, technical problem-solving, and collaboration with government, industry, and academic partners to transform emerging ideas into practical capabilities.
Highlights- Develop prototype applications enhancing analyst processes and products in collaboration with diverse partners.
- Conduct self-directed applied research to turn academic theories into working software prototypes.
- Set up and manage computing infrastructure to support analysis efforts, including data integration and database maintenance.
- Document code, development processes, and workflows to ensure maintainability and knowledge transfer.
- Test and debug software applications for proper functionality aligned with user needs.
- Proficient in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, Ruby, and skilled in XML, RDF, PHP, JSP, SOAP.
- Experienced with Linux system administration, shell scripting, version control, and build systems.
- Experience with machine learning models including object detection, image classification, and large language models.
- Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in engineering or computer science with one year relevant experience or a bachelor's degree with two years relevant experience.
- Active TS/SCI clearance required, preference given to candidates with full-scope polygraph; familiarity with Docker, AWS, and classified environments preferred.
- Compensation range: $90,000 - $110,000 annually.
- Position supports the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences department focused on innovative analytic solutions within the U.S. Intelligence Community.
