Description

Pay starts at $22/hr (up to $24/hr, based on CDL status).

Third Shift: Shifts start at 3 am and end 9–10 hours later.

Our drivers love getting their work done while the city sleeps. This schedule means you get in and out faster without having to fight with other drivers on the road. You get done early enough to get other things done before businesses close or school ends for the day.

This role is scheduled for Monday – Friday, with one week per month scheduled for Tuesday – Saturday.

Service 15–30 commercial accounts in the local area. Accounts include grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, universities, office parks, or similar.

Collect 35‑ and 64‑gallon roll carts containing food waste. You’ll leave a clean, empty cart behind for each container you collect — and leave the customer’s location clean and free of debris.

At the end of your route, return to the Compost Now warehouse to unload your truck.

Other duties include pre‑ and post‑trip checks, weighing carts, recording cart weights, taking service notes, and maintaining a clean, tidy vehicle.

It is required that all employees operate vehicles in accordance with Compost Now Safety Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a 26‑ft box truck (or similarly sized commercial vehicle) safely and efficiently.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle checks.
  • Weigh and record roll cart contents.
  • Collect 35‑ and 64‑gallon food‑waste carts from commercial accounts.
  • Leave customer locations clean and free of debris.

Requirements

  • Availability to work occasional, rotating Saturday shifts (about once a month).
  • Willing and able to work outdoors in all elements (rain, heat, cold, etc.).
  • Responsible individual, comfortable working with relative autonomy and minimal oversight.
  • Committed to communicating regularly and constructively with team members.
  • Desire for a physically active working environment (getting out of the truck at each stop, maneuvering and loading/unloading heavy roll carts).
People who thrive in this role
  • Are motivated by a clear personal “why” and show up for it daily.
  • Are comfortable working independently and take pride in getting things done correctly and with integrity.
  • Are physically strong, have stamina, and are used to fast‑paced delivery environments.

What doesn't work in this role
  • Cutting corners on service, documentation, or vehicle care.
  • Chronic lateness or frequent unexcused absences.
