Aircraft Mechanic

Engineering | University Airport Repair Station

Provides aircraft maintenance services to university-based and transient aircraft; maintains, repairs and adjusts aircraft engines and components; maintains and repairs aircraft frames; flight controls, landing gear, flight instrument systems and related components; performs airframe and engine regular interval inspections; maintains and calibrates supporting tools and equipment.

Work schedule is subject to changes in shift, hours and/or days as operations dictate; pre-employment screening information: this is a DOT identified safety-sensitive position. All candidates must pass DOT pre-employment drug testing prior to being hired. Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process.

Minimum Education Requirement:
Per Classified Civil Svc Specs or equivalent educ/exp:

• Airframe and Powerplant mechanic license issued by FAA
• Valid driver's license
• DOT identified safety-sensitive position; candidate will be subject to DOT random drug testing while employed in this position

• FAA Inspection Authorization
• Knowledge of safety practices
• Skill in mechanics
• Skill in operating ground equipment
• Skill in operating aircraft
• Ability to understand aircraft mechanical systems
• Ability to calculate fractions, decimals and percentages
• Ability to read simple sentences with common vocabulary
• Ability to cooperate with co-workers
• Ability to show dexterity
