Warehouse Lead – Customer Pick-Up

Kitchen Cabinet Distributors (KCD) is a rapidly growing distributor of stock cabinetry with nationwide distribution capabilities. KCD is committed to operational excellence, dependable service, and creating meaningful opportunities for associates to grow their careers.

The Will Call / Customer Pick-Up Lead Associate is a hands-on warehouse role responsible for coordinating and executing daily customer pick-up activity. This associate works alongside the team to pick, stage, verify, and load orders while providing day-to-day direction to a small group of warehouse associates. The role serves as the primary operational contact for the pick-up area and ensures each customer receives an accurate, safe, organized, and professional experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the daily workflow of the Will Call / customer pick-up area while actively performing warehouse work alongside the team.
  • Review the daily pick-up schedule, establish priorities, assign work, and adjust staffing or sequencing as volume and customer arrival times change.
  • Pick, pull, stage, and consolidate customer orders using warehouse systems, scanners, pick documents, and established operating procedures.
  • Verify staged orders against system records, paperwork for item, quantity, condition, and completeness before release to the customer.
  • Safely operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment to move and stage product.
  • Coordinate customer arrivals, confirm orders and release information, communicate expected wait times, and maintain a professional customer experience.
  • Resolve routine pick-up discrepancies, shortages, product-condition concerns, and staging issues; escalate exceptions through the appropriate Operations, Customer Service, or Post Sales channel.
  • Maintain clear staging lanes, accurate order identification, and an orderly traffic flow that separates customers from powered equipment and active warehouse work.
  • Provide on-the-job guidance, coaching, and task directions to assigned associates; reinforce safety, quality, service, productivity, and attendance expectations.
  • Conduct start-of-shift equipment inspections and report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, product damage, or process breakdowns promptly.
  • Support inventory accuracy through location verification, cycle counts, discrepancy research, and timely system transactions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist other warehouse functions as operational needs require and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of warehouse/shipping/customer service experience.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems and ERP's that support it.
  • Strong customer service background.
  • Experience working with freight carriers.
