Mechanical Engineer

Overview

Shive-Hattery's Omaha, Nebraska office has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience. Prior experience in thermal utility or central plant design is a plus but not required. Experience with professional design services (engineering consulting) is preferred.

• Mechanical design of utility systems to include steam, chilled water, hot water, compressed air, and others.
• Occasional design of mechanical building systems including plumbing, heating, cooling, ventilation, fire protection, building automation, and industrial process systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical team members and multi-discipline teams including electrical, structural, architectural and civil.
• Work on a variety of mechanical projects across market sectors, including higher education and healthcare facilities (with occasional projects in government, industrial, and commercial facilities).
• Produce construction drawings using Revit 3D modeling software.
• Visit project sites to assist with measuring, data collection, and construction observation duties.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an HVAC emphasis from an accredited engineering school.
• Experience with 3D modeling software;
  Revit preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is desirable.
• Ability to collaborate in a professional environment with strong interpersonal skills.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to manage time and workload with attention to engineering detail (planning, organizing, prioritizing).
• Professional Engineering License.
