Compensation:
Typical starting salary $16.50 hourly
Hours:
Part‑time, temporary from September 14, 2026 to May 31, 2027. Available 15 hours per week with flexible schedule. Preferred hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
This two‑part internship focuses on collections inventory and registration duties, culminating in the reinstallation of the Alexander Ramsey House. The registration intern will work with the Acquisitions Registrar and Collections Assistant to improve collections documentation, resolve storage issues, label objects, and assist with other relevant projects as they occur. These activities prepare the intern for the reinstallation, taking place January – April 2027.
ProgramRequirements
Interns are required to attend three in‑person seminars focused on professional development, learning how cultural organizations operate, and building a network of industry professionals. At the end of the semester, interns complete a final presentation to share their work.

- Thursday, September 24, 2026, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
- Thursday, November 12, 2026, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
- Final Presentations:
Thursday, December 17, 2026, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
- Create documentation and spreadsheets for registration projects.
- Research donation and object histories.
- Assist with object labeling and processing.
- Draft letters for outside communications related to projects.
- Assist with collections inventories at various MNHS sites.
- Consult with Acquisitions Registrar and Collections Assistant for problem solving.
- Produce concise reports on findings.
- Attend Collections department meetings when possible.
- Assist Ramsey House Project Registrar with reinstallation duties such as object unpacking, placement, and inventory control.
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student, or have graduated within the past 12 months at the time of application.
- Ideal candidates are pursuing or have a degree in History, Art History, Museum Studies, Library/Information Science, Anthropology, or related fields.
- Interest in or experience with museum collections.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with Google Workspace.
- Ability to lift/carry a 30‑lb box.
- Ability to climb stairs.
