Job PurposePerform all functions of laser operation and set‑up ensuring safety, quality, and productivity.
Essential Job Functions- Set-up, operate and adjust machinery according to laser set up sheet and/or Kanban cards
- Operator the laser computer
- Load raw steel to laser and unload finished product from laser
- Perform a visual inspection of raw steel and finished jobs
- Advise lead/supervisor of shortages or poor quality materials/products
- Accurately count all pieces to ensure no extra or missing parts
- Tag completed jobs with date, quantity, and producer’s name
- Report supply needs, equipment breakdowns to lead/supervisor
- Maintain all equipment in department as guidelines direct and complete daily PM log
- Complete all required paperwork in a correct and timely manner
- Operate hoist and manual pallet jack
- Assist in steel room operations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Experience in a manufacturing environment in metal fabrication and/or laser operation
- Mechanical aptitude
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide) using a calculator
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Read tape measure, blueprints and process sheets in both standard and metric
- Able to effectively communicate in English (speak, read, write and understand)
- Possess computer skills necessary to operate the laser computer
- Lift up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Walk, stand, reach overhead, climb stairs and grasp tools as necessary
- Submit to a comprehensive vision exam
- Operate hoist and manual pallet jack
