Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role manages project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, procurement, and client communication while ensuring HVAC and plumbing systems are installed according to project specifications, safety standards, and schedule requirements.

Projects may include commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities, educational campuses, laboratories, industrial facilities, and tenant improvement projects, requiring strong coordination between field operations, engineering teams, subcontractors, and clients. The ideal candidate has experience managing HVAC and/or plumbing construction projects and possesses strong leadership and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Oversee installation and coordination of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, piping, ductwork, and mechanical equipment.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasting, and cost tracking.
  • Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, field personnel, vendors, and project teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Review and manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project logs.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain communication with owners, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Support procurement of long-lead mechanical equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate startup, testing, commissioning, and project turnover activities.
  • Ensure projects comply with project specifications, safety standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Troubleshoot project challenges and implement solutions to maintain schedule, quality, and budget goals.
  • Monitor field productivity and collaborate closely with Superintendents to maintain project performance.
  • Support project closeout activities including punch lists, owner training, and final documentation.
Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of experience in mechanical construction project management.
  • Strong experience managing HVAC and/or plumbing construction projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, piping, ductwork, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Experience managing schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and project documentation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced commercial construction environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on healthcare, laboratory, education, commercial, industrial, or mission critical projects.
  • Familiarity with design-build projects and preconstruction coordination.
  • Experience with commissioning, startup, and owner turnover processes.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar software.
