OpportunityIn this role you will lead, design, and manage new and upgraded hydropower projects including conceptual studies, gate design, valve design, actuation systems, lock operations, fluid power systems, penstock piping, de‑icing, intake screens, gantry cranes, and more. The role also involves dam safety inspections, risk assessment input, and support for hydro turbine upgrades and powerhouse balance‑of‑plant systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes and B&V policies.
- Prepare specifications and drawings for complex engineering deliverables.
- Conduct complex research and analysis, apply advanced engineering techniques and analysis methods, and use industry codes.
- Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements; delegate tasks and review work of lower‑level team members.
- Lead production teams, coordinate multidisciplinary activity, and serve as project charge.
- Identify and communicate key client interests and drivers; support business development efforts.
- Serve as a technical specialist providing consultation and guidance to project teams.
- Ensure policies, procedures, and processes are implemented and communicated; comply with B&V quality program.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (accredited program) or equivalent.
- 25+ years of mechanical or systems engineering experience with locks, dams, or water conveyance.
- Experience in finite element analysis (FEA).
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Previous client‑facing role experience.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, 11+ years of related work experience, and ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements. Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for B&V projects in applicable countries.
Work Environment / Physical Demands- Typical office environment with periods of sitting and computer use; ability to maintain focus.
- Physical tasks during site visits (crouching, grasping, standing/walking).
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after first 90 days based on performance and assignments.
