Water Engineer, Environmental Engineer
Our Sacramento/Davis office has an opening for a self‑motivated engineer with 8–12 years of experience to work on projects related to groundwater wells, drinking water, water reuse, and stormwater.
The successful candidate will collaborate in a non‑hierarchical, team‑centred environment, managing project tasks, producing quality work, and delivering assignments on time and on budget.
Responsibilities- Manage projects and tasks for groundwater wells and drinking water supply projects.
- Participate in business development as part of a client service team.
- Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design activities.
- Prepare calculations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications during construction.
- Assist with submittal reviews, RFI, correspondence, change requests and change orders for construction projects.
- Conduct field work as necessary for various projects.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including drafters, designers, and other engineers.
- Deliver assignments on time and on budget.
- Adhere to Brown & Caldwell’s QA/QC process.
- Self‑starter, results‑oriented, able to work under deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Desire to work on groundwater, drinking water, water reuse, and stormwater projects.
- California PE license.
- Experience:
- Design of water infrastructure facilities (wells, pump stations, pipelines, etc.). Groundwater infrastructure design experience preferred.
- Engineering studies and analysis.
- Managing projects or tasks, including budget and schedule.
- Strong technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and on large coordinated teams.
- Willingness to perform field work at various sites.
- Knowledge of standard software including MS Office, Outlook, and Bluebeam.
- Strong aptitude for researching and solving technical problems.
The anticipated starting pay range is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be modified in the future.
Location B: $117,000 – $160,000
Location C: $128,000 – $174,000
