In this role, you will lead engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing systems for data centers.
Responsibilities- Design and construction activities, including project delivery methods such as traditional Design-Bid-Build and Alternative Conceptual-Bid-Build
- Design HVAC and plumbing systems for primarily Hyper Scale and colocation data center designs associated with administrative and support spaces
- Support additional areas such as Administrative, Warehouse, Maintenance, Workshop, Laboratory, Chemical Storage & Handling, Electrical Distribution Center, Low & Medium Voltage Switchgear, Pump Areas, Engine Generator, Blowers/Air Compressors, and Flammable & Combustible Liquids Storage
- Conduct Data Center airflow CFD modeling for interior and exterior spaces
- Conduct energy audit / efficiency studies, code review / application, and sustainable design / LEED application of sustainable strategies
- Develop engineering skills while working on challenging projects
The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions across our markets. From community improvements to large-scale projects, you will contribute to infrastructure growth while developing professionally.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Previous experience in Data Center / Mission Critical Design
- Experience with construction support
- Understanding of design differences in Hyper-scale, edge and colocation data centers
- Familiarity with Data Center tier rating systems
- Strong knowledge in Autodesk Revit
- Data Center airflow CFD modeling experience for internal and external evaluations
- Computer-generated HVAC cooling and heating load calculations and HVAC equipment sizing
- HVAC system energy modeling and energy code knowledge
- Green building initiatives such as LEED
- Technical submittal reviewing process and bid reviewing process for large-scale water and air cooled chiller plants
- International Codes Council (ICC) Suite of Codes, ASHRAE Handbooks / Standards, ASPE design handbooks, and SMACNA Standards
- NFPA Standards
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously
- Cadence Reality Data Center Design (Formerly 6
Sigma Room)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited program in the applicant’s home country or the country of practice, or equivalent experience in engineering work
- Minimum five years related work experience
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search in compliance with applicable laws
- Active engineering registration or licensure to support Engineer of Record requirements for BV projects where applicable

Work Environment and Schedule- Typical office environment; prolonged periods of sitting and computer use; ability to maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the day
- Physical tasks during site visits may include crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods of time
- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, performance, and assignments
