Conduct hydrographic surveys using sonar systems and positioning equipment. Process bathymetric data and assist in producing nautical charts and engineering deliverables.
About theRoleAs a Hydrographer at LNM
1968, you'll participate in hydrographic survey operations using single-beam and multibeam echo sounders,side scan sonar, and sub-bottom profilers. You'll process survey data, conduct quality checks, and prepare bathymetric products formarine construction, dredging, and nautical charting projects.
This position offers hands-on experience with advanced survey technology and opportunities to work on diverse marine projects.
Key Responsibilities- Operate single-beam and multibeam sonar systems
- Process bathymetric data using CARIS or similar software
- Conduct data quality assessments and corrections
- Assist with survey planning and equipment setup
- Create bathymetric surfaces and contour maps
- Prepare field notes and survey reports
- Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, or related field
- 2-5 years experience in hydrographic surveying
- Knowledge of NOAA hydrographic standards
- Experience with sonar operations and data processing
- Ability to work on survey vessels
- Hydrographer certification (THSOA)
- Experience with CARIS HIPS and SIPS
- Knowledge of tidal corrections and datums
