This position prepares and paints parts. The Paint Technician performs cleaning and touchup of painted parts.
Responsibilities- Inspect parts for defects prior to paint; segregate and report non-conforming material to lead.
- Mask and plug painted surfaces per drawing and/or specifications.
- Unmask parts and wrap parts.
- Inspect painted parts for defects. Segregate and report defective parts to lead.
- Prepare paints using measurement equipment, such as viscosity cups.
- Apply paint coating systems, using spray equipment, stencils, rollers and brushes.
- Clean and touch up painted parts.
- Check paint thicknesses using wet and dry paint gages.
- Other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.
Education and Experience
- Experience performing detailed tasks hour after hour.
- Ability to read and interpret masking requirements from drawing.
- Good dexterity.
- Knowledge of paint chemistry to mix appropriate compounds.
- Ability to remain focused on detailed tasks for long periods of time.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Standing:
Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
