About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the objective of this position is to work within the Quality Assurance/Quality Control department to optimize mix design and raw material costs, implement and manage quality procedures and policies, manage product development, and provide assistance to customers and sales representatives. The role also meets divisional quality goals and objectives, resulting in the reduction of quality incidents, associated costs, and enhanced customer service, and leads a team of QA/QC technicians in the field.

What

You’ll Accomplish
  • Administer, develop, implement, and standardize quality plans and processes for the Greater Edmonton / Northern Alberta Area, working closely with General Managers, conducting quality audits, and adhering to the WCan Quality Control Manual.
  • Lead and develop the Quality Assurance team for the region.
  • Assess concrete mix designs for quality objectives, opportunities for increasing cement efficiencies and reducing total mix costs by reviewing field data and using appropriate technical software.
  • Formulate laboratory experiments to quantify desired properties of materials for the development of new products to be used in niche markets.
  • Represent the company's interests in technical associations throughout Alberta.
  • Work with specification writers, engineering consultants, architects, government agencies, and customers to open lines of communication and promote Amrize’s products and services.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the Cement Division regarding the quality of concrete materials and products and promote concrete in general.
  • Collaborate with the concrete & aggregate QA and sales departments to pre‑qualify our construction materials, clarify and modify specifications where possible, and assist customers with bids on special projects.
  • Review, prepare, and submit mix designs for various projects as required.
  • Utilize CSA A23, A283, A3000, provincial/transportation/city specifications and codes of practice for concrete, aggregates, and ASTM standards related to construction materials for compliance and review.
  • Ensure safety is the number one priority, applying Amrize safety standards, engaging employees on safety, and promoting a safety‑oriented culture.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Technologist Designation.
  • Field of Study Preferred: Engineering.
  • Required

    Work Experience:

    3‑5 years in a concrete or related industry.
  • Required Training/

    Certifications:

    Registered as a P. Eng. or P.Tech. ACI & CSA Concrete Testing Certification is an asset.
  • Required Technical

    Skills:

    Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, SAP.
  • Travel Requirements: 10%
  • Additional Requirements: Technically sound in ready mix, concrete, cement, and aggregates; strong analytical and report writing skills; team player; strong communicator; able to multi‑task; demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team; ability to work long hours when required; safety‑oriented individual.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment, including respirators. Employees required to wear respirators must be clean‑shaven where the respirator seal meets the face to pass fit tests.
