Our client, a growing specialty food manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Financial Accountant to join their Finance & Accounting team. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who can take ownership of key financial processes while supporting the continued growth and operational development of the organization.
The Financial Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records, leading key components of the month-end and year-end close, preparing financial reports and reconciliations, supporting inventory and manufacturing accounting, and strengthening internal financial controls.

Job Details
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Take ownership of assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process
Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, allocations, and other accounting adjustments
Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation
Prepare financial statements, management reports, account analyses, and supporting schedules
Analyze monthly financial results and investigate significant fluctuations, discrepancies, and budget-to-actual variances
Support inventory accounting and reconciliation, including raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, inventory adjustments, cycle counts, and physical inventories
Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory movement, production activity, freight, and other operational expenses
Partner with Production, Warehouse, Purchasing, Logistics, and Operations teams to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
Support cost accounting activities, including product costs, standard costs, manufacturing variances, and inventory valuation as applicable
Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations
Prepare and review bank and cash reconciliations
Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities and investigate complex account discrepancies when necessary
Ensure expenses and transactions are properly classified and recorded within the appropriate accounting period
Assist with cash flow reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
Prepare financial analyses and reporting requested by executive leadership
Assist external auditors by preparing schedules, reconciliations, documentation, and responses to audit requests
Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, documentation, and internal controls
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve reporting, reduce manual processes, and increase financial accuracy
Support ERP and accounting system improvements and ensure appropriate financial data integrity
Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP, company policies, and applicable financial reporting requirements
Serve as a knowledgeable accounting resource to other departments and provide guidance regarding financial processes and procedures
Participate in special projects and additional financial analysis as assigned by Finance leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience independently managing significant accounting responsibilities
Manufacturing, food manufacturing, distribution, or similar operational accounting experience strongly preferred
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close
Experience with inventory and manufacturing accounting strongly preferred
Experience with cost accounting, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis highly desirable
Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, lookups, complex formulas, and financial data analysis
Experience working with ERP and financial accounting systems
Ability to independently investigate financial discrepancies and drive issues through resolution
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with both accounting professionals and operational teams
High level of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and discretion when handling confidential financial information
