Cost Accountant Job Description
Experience: Senior Level
Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 per year
- Review and analyze production tickets for accuracy while evaluating production costs and variances
- Track and report on production cost variances
- Collaborate with the production team to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain ERP system Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure data accuracy
- Provide support to the Accounts Receivable Specialist
- Analyze operational costs and cost standards
- Conduct cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis
- Prepare reports comparing standard costs to actual costs
- Recommend opportunities for cost reduction and profit maximization
- Maintain cost accounting systems
- Conduct margin analysis
- Assist with month-end close processes
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong proficiency in Excel required
- Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience with financial systems software required; experience with Ross ERP preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, and work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to collaborate effectively with employees, management, and third parties at all levels
- Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Regularly required to use hands to handle objects and feel controls
- Regularly required to reach, climb stairs, stoop, and crouch
- Regularly required to talk, listen, and have vision capabilities to read and view a computer screen
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Our client, a manufacturing company, is seeking a Cost Accountant to join their finance team. This role analyzes manufacturing costs and provides insights to improve cost efficiency and profitability. The Cost Accountant will work closely with the Inventory Control Specialist to ensure accurate production costing, and will also support billing, collections, and credit application processes, helping to coordinate the activities of the credit and collections function.
