Position Overview

Ferreira Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support and lead heavy civil and utility construction projects throughout Southern California. This role is responsible for the full project lifecycle, from preconstruction through closeout, with a strong focus on cost control, scheduling, subcontractor management, and client coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day project operations for heavy civil and utility construction projects
  • Review, interpret, and perform quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications
  • Solicit subcontractor and vendor bids; negotiate scopes and contracts
  • Develop and manage project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting
  • Prepare and submit monthly pay estimates
  • Develop and maintain project schedules
  • Prepare and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
  • Coordinate with field staff, inspectors, agencies, and clients to ensure project success
  • Identify and resolve project issues through creative problem-solving
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in heavy civil construction and/or underground utility work
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager managing multiple aspects of construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of Southern California public works construction practices
  • Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid and cost-tracking systems
  • Experience with project scheduling and cost control
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, computer, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Field experience is a strong plus
  • Must have prior work experience in Southern California
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and detail-oriented
  • Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred
