ESY Dates are June 1 to June 25:

  • Wednesday, May 28, 7:30am – 12:30pm (5 hours) Planning day
  • June 19 is a holiday (no ESY)
  • Monday - Thursday:
    Staff = 7:30 to 11:30am;
    Students = 3 hours per day, 8 to 11am
  • Rate of pay will be $52/hour (Coordinator)
Qualifications:
  • Valid and appropriate Illinois licensure
  • General Administrative or Director of Special Education Endorsement required
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience in Special Education
  • Successful completion of fingerprint based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), Sex Offender and Violent Youth Offender screening

Motor Vehicle Operator's License and ability to provide own transportation

REPORTS TO:
Director of Special Education

JOB GOAL:
Under the general supervision of the director of special education, the ESY coordinator provides leadership and supervision in administering the Extended School Year Program in order to promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with the IEP, Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations, and applicable law. To provide leadership in program development and improvement.

Responsibilities

and Abilities:
  • Develops and administers the ESY program consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Assist with the hiring of non-certified staff to fill positions in order to meet the needs of students enrolled in ESY.
  • Work with case managers to identify students recommended for ESY.
  • Assist the director of special education in creating class lists for ESY.
  • Assist in providing staff training, if necessary, prior to the first day of ESY
  • Assist the director of special education in providing day to day supervision, oversight, and support to staff working ESY
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and reporting for all student activities, attendance and records as required by law.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and works with teaching staff to modify instructional methods to fit students' needs, including students with special needs.
  • Participates in staffing and Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/or 504 conferences as appropriate.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies.
  • Utilizes knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy to promote differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Utilizes knowledge of Elementary school curriculum and concepts.
  • Applies knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision.
  • Utilizes knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Possesses knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Obtains knowledge of computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Possesses ability to develop and implement projects.
  • Communicates effectively with students and parents.
  • Possesses ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
  • Engages in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the director of special education and other district office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
  • Adheres to a professional code of ethics which includes confidentiality of school related matters and loyalty to the school district.
