2026 ESY Dates are June 1 to June 25:
Wednesday, May 28, 7:30am – 12:30pm (5 hours) Planning day
June 19 is a holiday (no ESY)
Monday - Thursday
Staff = 7:30 to 11:30am
Students = 3 hours per day, 8 to 11amJune 26 - Certified staff will have until 1pm to complete progress reports and check out of the building
Rate of pay will be $40/hour
- Valid and appropriate Illinois licensure.
- Prior school experience preferred.
- Complete required professional development to retain certification.
- Successful completion of fingerprint based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), sex offender and violent youth offender screening, and employment physical.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Special Education
To serve those children whose social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges interfere greatly with their ability to benefit from the school experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provides consultation and in-service training to school personnel.
- Participates in the identification of those children who require social work intervention and provides the social-development study in a case study evaluation.
- Assists students with adapting to various aspects of the school environment.
- Serves as a liaison between the home and the school, and for providing parental education and counseling as appropriate in relation to the child's problem.
- Facilitates the effective utilization of existing community resources to meet the needs of school children.
- Keeps informed of new developments in the field of school social work.
- Participates in case conferences when referred students are involved, or as requested.
- Assists families with designing their individual family service plan and refers them to appropriate services and agencies.
- Participates in staffing and Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/or 504 conferences as relates to their direct client.
- Participates in RTI and other district wide interventions.
- Consults with teachers and parents as appropriate to assist them in addressing the expectations for social decision making, behavioral, mental health, and academic goals based on SEL standards.
- Facilitates a comprehensive continuum of support that promotes healthy positive youth development using the social emotional learning standards.
- Keeps up-to-date on current research and practice referenced in the National School Social Work Practice Model.
- Assists with collecting and analyzing data regarding program participant outcomes, in the following priority areas: improving Tier 1 instructional practices, policies, and student outcomes.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping regarding the services delivered.
- Coordinates with other professional staff members to evaluate and assess the social and emotional curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Applies knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Applies knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Uses computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Organizes and coordinates work efficiently.
- Communicates effectively with students and parents.
- Engages in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal/assistant principal and other district office administrators as designated by the superintendent.
