Title

Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional

Rate

$130/day for substitute teachers and $120/day for substitute paraprofessionals (aides)

Qualifications
  • Valid and appropriate Illinois licensure (PEL, SUB, STS, or ELS/PARA w/ B.S. degree).
  • License registered with the Regional Office of Education - 53.
  • Successful completion of fingerprint based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), Sex Offender and Violent Youth Offender screening.
  • Successful completion of a physical exam.

If you do not currently hold a substitute teaching license but would like to apply for one, please contact the Regional Office of Education in East Peoria.

Required Documents
  • The original approval letter from the ROE along with the criminal history reports from the Illinois State Police and FBI (to be completed at the ROE).
  • A copy of the Statement of Physical Fitness from a physician.
  • Copies of college transcripts.
  • Appropriate forms of identification as required for the I-9 - Employment Eligibility Verification form (ex. Passport or Driver's License and Social Security Card).

Job Goal

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follows lesson plans and instructions provided by the teacher.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school standards and school district discipline policies.
  • Adheres to a professional code of ethics which includes confidentiality of school related matters.
