The Position: A Lead CAD Designer is responsible for supporting the delivery of complex design projects by combining advanced technical expertise with project coordination and quality oversight. This role focuses on reviewing and ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of design deliverables through established QA/QC processes, along with the potential of direct reports. The position collaborates closely with engineers, project managers, and design staff to support schedules, documentation, and project requirements while providing technical guidance as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support complex design projects from concept through completion, ensuring compliance with project requirements, company standards, and applicable codes,
- Perform thorough QA/QC reviews of design deliverables to verify accuracy, consistency, constructability, and alignment with project and client expectations prior to issuance,
- Provide technical guidance and feedback to design staff, supporting design quality, efficiency, and adherence to established standards,
- Develop, coordinate, and review 3D models, piping layouts, and design documents using Plant 3D and/or Civil 3D across multiple project phases,
- Coordinate closely with engineers, project managers, and cross-disciplinary teams to resolve technical issues, address design conflicts, and support timely project delivery
- Review and approve design changes to confirm alignment with project objectives, scope, schedule, and quality requirements
- Support mentoring and training efforts by reinforcing design standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives,
- Oversee and provide work direction to direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Engineering Design, Civil Technology, or a related field, and/or certificate in Autodesk software preferred,
- Minimum 10 years' experience in the preparation of design plans, profiles, and detailed drawings for various engineering projects. Education and related work experience will be taken into consideration and may be applied towards experience,
- 3+ years’ experience related to staff training and/or QA/QC of projects,
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Plant 3D, Civil 3D experience is a plus,
- Excellent technical, verbal and written communication skills,
- Ability to work on and prioritize, several concurrent projects and deadlines,
- Ability to commit to occasional unforeseen and demanding deliverable schedules.
