Capital Management, Environmental Programs, Land Development, Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Utility, and Transportation, with 41 staff members. Engineering is about more than roads; it’s about creating the built environment that shapes our community. As we continue to develop our City into a World Class Community, we focus on high-quality design, sustainability, and reliable utility services.
The Traffic Engineer reports to the Deputy Director of Engineering Services and oversees the Transportation Section, which includes two Assistant Engineers and an Engineering Technician. This newly formed section focuses on large-scale projects, signals, active transportation, and regional transportation initiatives. Responsibilities include design, construction, operation of traffic control devices, and planning for future needs, including managing funding programs and grants.
Your ImpactPotential projects include:
- Advanced Traffic Management System – a multi-million dollar project to improve traffic flow and reduce emissions.
- 6th Street Cycle Track – collaboration to build a Class 4 bicycle facility.
- Transportation planning efforts like the Active Transportation Plan and Roadway Safety Plan.
- West Valley Connector Bus Rapid Transit – regional transit project.
- High Speed Rail Coordination – planning for future high-speed rail infrastructure.
- Self-motivated leader with project management experience.
- Broad knowledge of transportation and traffic concepts.
- Team player with a forward-thinking approach.
- Enjoys mentoring and sharing knowledge.
- Lead and manage a team of three staff members.
- Coordinate projects, funding, and regional collaborations.
- Prepare reports for City Council and other bodies.
- Strategic planning and department leadership participation.
Graduation with a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering, five years of related experience, and a California PE license are required. Experience in traffic engineering and possession of a Traffic Engineer registration are highly desirable.
