The Position: A Designer l is responsible for the layout and conceptualization of piping systems, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance with industry codes and standards. This role involves developing efficient and constructible piping designs while considering project design requirements, material selection, and system performance. This person collaborates with engineers and project teams to create detailed plans that optimize workflow, enhance safety, and meet project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing piping systems by routing pipes, laying out equipment, and selecting materials, under minimum supervision
  • Work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure designs meet safety, functionality, and regulatory standards,
  • Develops design and layouts using detailed knowledge of materials, codes, fabrication, and construction requirements,
  • Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and design documents for accuracy,
  • Has a detailed understanding of piping drawings, including but not limited to:
    Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), plot plans, piping plans, plan and profile drawings, isometric drawings, and other related documentation,
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of design software to assist in the development and modification of piping and instrumentation drawings, models, and related deliverables,
  • Collaborate with the design team to implement revisions aligned with project scope and budget constraints.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Engineering Design, Civil Technology, or a related field preferred,
  • Proficient in 2D/3D software,
  • Certificate in Autodesk software preferred,
  • 4+ years engineering design experience. Education and related work experience will be taken into consideration and may be applied towards experience,
  • Ability to help with the completion of production drawings, layouts, sketches, and maps in required software,
  • Hybrid work schedule with occasional site visits required to support field assessments, project coordination, and communication with on-site teams.
