What

is the role about?

Are you energized by leading multidisciplinary engineering and scientific teams? Do you thrive on transforming market needs into groundbreaking products? Are you excited to shape the technological vision of a company that is a global leader in laser‑based analytical instrumentation? If so, this role may be the perfect fit. As the VP of Technology, you will oversee Research, Development, and Engineering functions – guiding teams that span spectroscopy, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering, as well as industrialization.

Operating as a key member of the Management Board, you will help shape the company's strategic direction and drive innovations that strengthen our competitiveness in the global analytical instrumentation market.

Which tasks will you perform?

You will:

  • Direct the full R&D lifecycle – from new product proposals through commercialization, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Lead industrialization efforts for new technologies, including calibration station development and manufacturing readiness.
  • Oversee sustaining engineering activities for legacy products.
  • Champion accountability, standardization, quality, and continuous improvement across all technical functions.
  • Develop and monitor research plans, budgets, and timelines to ensure timely and cost‑effective project execution.
  • Collaborate with global Endress+Hauser R&D centers and the Freiburg Optical Hub to evaluate and leverage shared technologies.
  • Partner with the Management Board to set the company vision, culture, and strategic direction.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate progress toward strategic goals.
  • Provide leadership and problem‑solving support to cross‑functional development teams, jointly enforcing product development timelines with the Program Manager.
  • Support engineering design concepts and guide technology decisions to drive cost reduction, safety, product enhancements, and market growth.
  • Review and approve accounting analyses for budgets, capital expenditures, and operational improvements.
  • Evaluate talent and assign top performers to high‑priority projects.
  • Lead department managers and ensure alignment to organizational policies, objectives, and processes.
  • Build a collaborative, trustworthy team culture focused on customer‑centricity and ownership.
What do we expect from you?

You:

  • Hold a Master's degree in engineering, a related technical field, or an MBA.
  • Bring 10+ years of experience as an R&D or Project Manager – preferably within analyzer instrumentation, TDL/optical technologies, or related industries.
  • Demonstrate proven leadership and cross‑functional team management experience.
  • Understand the link between R&D innovation and market opportunity.
  • Possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact at all levels internally and externally.
  • Can effectively write reports, present technical information, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Think strategically and have a record of translating strategy into action.
  • Can interpret technical publications, regulations, and business literature.
  • Excel at uniting teams and creating a cohesive, collaborative environment.
  • Value transparency, trust, and employee input.
  • Have experience with Kaizen and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Are flexible, data‑driven, and capable of balancing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
What can you expect from us?
  • The security and long‑term perspective of working for an international, family‑owned company.
  • Competitive compensation with bonus opportunities.
  • Comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Company‑paid parental and caregiver leave.
  • Generous paid time off, including company holidays and volunteer time.
  • Company‑paid life insurance and 401(k) savings plan with company match.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with company contributions.
  • Tuition reimbursement and extensive professional development opportunities.
