ABOUT

THE ROLE

The Assistant Vice President of Compliance is an enterprise governance leader responsible for strengthening the organization’s regulatory compliance infrastructure, operational risk management practices, and policy governance framework across all operational divisions. This role ensures that regulatory obligations, internal governance standards, and ethical operating principles are consistently embedded within operational execution, program delivery, development activities, and leadership decision-making. Working in close partnership with executive leadership, Legal, Finance, Human Resources, Property Operations, Development, and Construction teams, the AVP of Compliance translates complex regulatory requirements into practical operational guidance while proactively identifying and mitigating systemic compliance risks.

Serving as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, the Assistant Vice President of Compliance helps safeguard the organization from regulatory, financial, and reputational exposure while reinforcing a culture of accountability, transparency, and ethical governance across the enterprise.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Enterprise Compliance Governance
  • Design and implement enterprise-wide compliance frameworks aligned with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Establish governance structures that ensure consistent policy application across departments, programs, and operational divisions.
  • Develop scalable compliance infrastructure that supports organizational growth and operational complexity.
  • Regulatory Oversight & Risk Mitigation
  • Monitor evolving regulatory requirements impacting affordable housing programs, property management operations, development activities, and nonprofit governance.
  • Identify emerging compliance risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Lead internal compliance assessments, monitoring processes, and corrective action planning.
  • Affordable Housing Regulatory Leadership
  • Provide regulatory interpretation and compliance guidance related to affordable housing programs and regulatory agreements.
  • Partner with property management and asset management leadership to ensure operational alignment with housing program requirements.
  • Support regulatory readiness for audits, agency reviews, and compliance monitoring.
  • Development & Construction Compliance Alignment
  • Provide compliance oversight related to development and construction regulatory frameworks where applicable.
  • Collaborate with development and finance teams to ensure regulatory alignment with funding requirements and development agreements.
  • Policy Governance & Ethical Accountability
  • Collaborate and cooperate with policy leadership to establish enterprise policy governance standards and compliance protocols.
  • Lead development, review, and implementation of organizational compliance policies and procedures.
  • Reinforce a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability across the organization.
  • Executive Partnership & Organizational Alignment
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership regarding regulatory compliance and enterprise risk matters.
  • Partner with Legal, Human Resources, Finance, Property Operations, Development, Construction, and program to ensure integrated compliance practices.
  • Provide executive leadership with structured compliance reporting and risk insights to support informed decision-making.
  • Compliance Enablement & Organizational Education
  • Design and deploy compliance education initiatives that elevate regulatory literacy among leaders and staff in collaboration with the Learning and Development team.
