Manufacturing Engineer - Elastomer Manufacturing

Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to develop, optimize, and sustain elastomer manufacturing processes. This role supports efficient production, high product quality, and compliance with aerospace and industry standards within an ITAR-regulated environment.

• Strong Manufacturing Engineering experience within an elastomer manufacturing environment (highly preferred)
• Aerospace manufacturing experience
• ITAR-regulated environment experience
• Knowledge of AS9100 is a plus

• Process Engineering & Optimization

• Develop, implement, and optimize elastomer manufacturing processes, including molding, extrusion, mixing, and curing (compression molding, injection molding, calendaring).
• Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and root-cause analysis tools.
• Create and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, control plans, and PFMEAs.

• Manufacturing Support

• Provide daily technical support to production teams, troubleshooting process and equipment issues related to elastomer manufacturing.
• Define, validate, and maintain process parameters for new and existing products to ensure repeatability, stability, and compliance with specifications.
• Oversee tooling design, tooling trials, and qualification for elastomer components.

• Equipment & Technology

• Specify, validate, and maintain elastomer processing equipment, including mixers, extruders, molding presses, curing ovens, and inspection tools.
• Lead or support capital equipment projects, including justification, procurement, installation, and validation.
• Identify and implement new technologies to improve elastomer flow, curing chemistry, throughput, and product consistency.

• Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Support safety initiatives by identifying risks related to high-temperature processes, chemical mixing, and press operations.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to elastomer materials, chemicals, and curing agents.
