Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to develop, optimize, and sustain elastomer manufacturing processes. This role supports efficient production, high product quality, and compliance with aerospace and industry standards within an ITAR-regulated environment.
Preferred Background- Strong Manufacturing Engineering experience within an elastomer manufacturing environment (highly preferred)
- Aerospace manufacturing experience
- ITAR-regulated environment experience
- Knowledge of AS9100 is a plus
- Process Engineering & Optimization
- Develop, implement, and optimize elastomer manufacturing processes, including molding, extrusion, mixing, and curing (compression molding, injection molding, calendaring).
- Analyze production data to identify inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and root-cause analysis tools.
- Create and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, control plans, and PFMEAs.
- Manufacturing Support
- Provide daily technical support to production teams, troubleshooting process and equipment issues related to elastomer manufacturing.
- Define, validate, and maintain process parameters for new and existing products to ensure repeatability, stability, and compliance with specifications.
- Oversee tooling design, tooling trials, and qualification for elastomer components.
- Equipment & Technology
- Specify, validate, and maintain elastomer processing equipment, including mixers, extruders, molding presses, curing ovens, and inspection tools.
- Lead or support capital equipment projects, including justification, procurement, installation, and validation.
- Identify and implement new technologies to improve elastomer flow, curing chemistry, throughput, and product consistency.
- Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Support safety initiatives by identifying risks related to high-temperature processes, chemical mixing, and press operations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to elastomer materials, chemicals, and curing agents.
