Our client is seeking a Food Chemistry Analyst to join their dynamic manufacturing team. - Carry out analytical testing of edible oils, fats, and derived products using validated laboratory methods.
- Measure and evaluate key quality parameters, including:
- Free Fatty Acid (FFA) and Peroxide Value (PV)
- Moisture, Volatile Matter, and Insoluble Impurities
- Fatty Acid Composition and Oxidative Stability
- Color, Density, and Sensory Attributes
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments such as GC-FID, HPLC, UV-Vis Spectrophotometers, Karl Fischer Titrators, and Automatic Titration Systems.
- Prepare reagents, standards, and calibration solutions to support daily testing activities.
- Review analytical data and compile accurate, well‑documented test reports.
- Investigate out‑of‑specification (OOS) results and collaborate on root‑cause analyses.
- Uphold compliance with GLP, GMP, SQF, and applicable food safety standards.
- Maintain organized laboratory records, worksheets, and electronic databases.
- Contribute to method validation, verification projects, and process improvement efforts.
- Provide support during internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Monitor and reorder laboratory supplies, gases, and chemicals as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline.
- 3–5 years of hands‑on laboratory experience in the food, edible oils, fats, or related industries preferred.
- Background in chromatographic and wet chemistry techniques.
- Experience installing and validating new laboratory equipment.
- Familiarity with AOCS, IOC, ISO, ASTM, or USP analytical methods is a plus.
- Solid understanding of edible oil refining, processing workflows, and quality parameters.
- Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and modern analytical techniques.
- Competency in chemical calculations and statistical data analysis.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and laboratory information management software.
- A detail‑oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
- Strong organizational and documentation habits.
- Comfortable working independently as well as in a collaborative team setting.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A proactive, problem‑solving approach and strong critical thinking.
- ISO 17025 laboratory training.
- Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) certification.
- HACCP or food safety training.
- Laboratory‑based setting with regular handling of chemicals and food‑grade products.
- Requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of sample containers (up to 25 lbs).
- PPE and adherence to all laboratory safety protocols are required at all times.
