You'll be responsible for:

  • Taking initiative and maintaining a productive pace of work.
  • Working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled construction tasks.
  • Completing temporary and permanent repairs to roadways and sidewalks.
  • Setting up and maintaining traffic control and safe work zones.

Education and/or

Experience:

Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of experience in construction or maintenance work or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of methods, common tools and equipment used in public works construction and maintenance work, basic safety precautions and procedures. Ability to perform skilled and unskilled maintenance work; operate and perform routine maintenance and servicing of a variety of power-driven equipment and power tools; understand and follow verbal and written instructions; work safely and efficiently with others and assist in the training of less experienced workers;

deal tactfully with the public.

Special Requirements:
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Possession of or ability to obtain a California Commercial Motor Vehicle  Class A  Driver's License with endorsements (air brake and tanker) and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of satisfactory completion of the probationary period.

Successful candidate will be required to:
  • Complete a verification form designated by the Immigration and Naturalization Service to certify that they are eligible for employment in the United States of America; and
  • Pass a pre-employment medical exam, which includes a drug screen;
  • Provide proof of a valid California driver's license and be insurable; and
  • Pass a reference and background verification. References will not be contacted until mutual interest has been established.

If hired, candidate will be required to complete a verification form designated by Immigration and Naturalization Service to certify that they are eligible for employment in the United States and furnish proof certifying legal authorization to work in the United States.
