Salary Range: $22.00 To $24.00 Hourly

FORKLIFT OPERATOR

Southwest Mobile Storage, Inc is a storage container business that is growing and needs a heavy duty forklift operator for our Rancho Cucamonga branch. If you are the right fit for us, you will join a shop team with great communication, teamwork and you will be busy. Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to safely load, unload, move, and position storage containers, materials, and equipment while supporting daily yard operations.

This hands‑on role also assists with yard organization, equipment inspections, basic welding and fabrication projects, facility maintenance, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and position storage containers, materials, and equipment.
  • Assist with yard organization, inventory movement, and operational workflow support.
  • Inspect forklifts and equipment before and after use to ensure safe operating conditions.
  • Follow company safety procedures and operational standards during all activities.
  • Coordinate with yard personnel, drivers, dispatch, and operations staff regarding equipment movement and operational needs.
  • Maintain clean and organized yard areas and equipment.
  • Assist with loading and unloading deliveries and operational materials.
  • Perform yard cleanup and general maintenance to ensure a safe and professional working environment.
  • Assist with the installation of signs, decals, labels, and other identifying materials on containers and equipment.
  • Perform basic welding tasks as needed for repairs, modifications, and operational projects.
  • Assist with metal fabrication projects, including container modifications and repairs.
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively to support yard, fabrication, and installation activities.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational problems to management.
  • Support branch operations and yard activities as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by upper management.

Skills Needed for Success:

  • Be able to lift fifty pounds
  • Operate forklift in an outdoor environment
  • Be punctual and reliable
  • Be able to use basic tools to assemble and disassemble blinds, doors, etc.
  • Have a safety oriented mind set

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous forklift or material handling experience preferred
  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification required
  • Knowledge of safe equipment operation and workplace safety practices required
  • Ability to follow operational procedures and instructions required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills preferred
