The Transportation Operations Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day dispatch and delivery operation supporting a multi-temperature grocery distribution center. This role manages transportation associates and dispatch execution, coordinates third-party carrier performance, oversees yard and equipment activity through the Yard Management System (YMS), and monitors routes and deliveries through Omnitracs and other transportation systems. The position is accountable for safe, accurate, and timely execution;

reliable transportation data; effective customer and carrier communication; and consistent On-Time Delivery performance. The facility supports day and/or night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Dispatch and Delivery Operations:

• Supervise and coordinate daily dispatch operations for chill, frozen, dry, and other assigned grocery delivery activity.
• Ensure loads are dispatched in alignment with planned warehouse dispatch times, carrier dispatch times, customer delivery windows, and route requirements.
• Monitor drivers and routes throughout the shift, identify loads at risk of late delivery, and coordinate timely recovery actions with carriers, drivers, stores, and internal partners.
• Validate delivery exceptions, late deliveries, arrival and departure times, and reason codes before On-Time Delivery reporting is finalized.
• Ensure dispatch associates maintain accurate load status, route notes, delivery exceptions, and customer communication in applicable systems.
• Coordinate with Routing, Warehouse Operations, Customer Service, Store Operations, and carriers to resolve service disruptions and protect customer delivery commitments
• Maintain clear shift handoffs and communicate outstanding loads, rollovers, equipment constraints, service risks, and unresolved issues to appropriate stakeholders.

Yard and Equipment Management:

• Oversee daily yard and trailer activity using YMS, including trailer location, status, availability, dock assignments, and equipment movements.
• Ensure required yard checks and spot checks are completed, discrepancies are corrected promptly, and YMS data accurately reflects physical yard conditions.
• Monitor trailer and equipment availability against daily and upcoming dispatch requirements and escalate shortages, overages, out-of-service equipment, or other constraints.
• Coordinate with yard spotters, warehouse teams, carriers, maintenance providers, and other partners to support safe and timely trailer movement and equipment readiness.
• Reinforce trailer safety requirements, including proper chocking, equipment condition reporting, and escalation of unsafe or non-serviceable equipment.

Third-Party Carrier Management:

• Manage daily execution of third-party carriers and serve as an operational point of contact for dispatch, equipment, driver, service, and delivery issues.
