Job Objective
Provides direct patient care and support to multidisciplinary health team working within the scope of practice of a Nurse Practitioner (NP). Serves as a clinical expert through patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and consultation, while maintaining program excellence and professional growth. Responsible for developing comprehensive care plans, coordinating patient care, delivering ongoing treatment while fostering a strong patient-provider relationship. Committed to cost‑effective care management, optimizing resource utilization, and enhancing patient experiences through continuous process improvement.
Provides direct patient care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high‑quality, evidence‑based outcomes.
Required:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure/Certification :
Active and unrestricted CA licensure as Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP);
Nurse Practitioner Furnishing (NPF) license number from the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN);
Current board certification as NP by a nationally accredited organization in a population focus;
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate to dispense controlled substances (II‑V);
National Provider Identifier (NPI);
Current Basic Life Support certification (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA);
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from AHA required upon hire and Adult Acute Care or Adult Gerontological Acute Care board certification required by December
31,2028 if assigned to Inpatient Clinical Care in the following departments:
Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic (CC7550) General Surgery Clinic (Salta) (CC7434) GYN Oncology Surgery (CC7657) Hospitalists Program (CC8714) Inpatient Specialty Programs (CC7055) Stroke Service (CC7050) Trauma ACS/APPs (CC7016) Vascular Clinic (CC7563) Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) from American College of Surgeons; current employees must obtain ATLS by July1,2027:
Inpatient Specialty Programs (CC7055) Trauma ACS/APPs (CC7016) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from AHA required upon hire if assigned to the following departments:
Inpatient Specialty Programs (CC7055) Stroke Service (CC7050) Trauma ACS/APPs (CC7016) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner board certification required if assigned to the following departments:
Behavioral Health Rancho Mirage (CC7336) Behavioral Health Rimrock (CC7338).
Preferred:
Experience as a NP providing care in an acute or ambulatory setting in assigned area of specialty;
Minimum one (1) year of experience with acute stroke and other neurovascular emergencies if assigned to Inpatient Specialty Programs (CC7055).
Reports To:
Director, Chief Administrative Officer or Service Line Administrator. Supervises: N/A.
Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric.
Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesAbility to autonomously assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients across the lifespan;
Ability to be flexible in response to unexpected change in work volume;
Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team to provide care and facilitate transition throughout continuum of care;
Ability to establish good working relationships and work in a professional manner with patients, physicians, and co‑workers;
Ability to function in a high volume environment, analyze situations quickly and accurately, and take appropriate action;
Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality;
Ability to problem‑solve independently;
Ability to provide an excellent customer service experience for patients;
Ability to use a computerized medical records system and other software required to perform and document patient care and communicate within the organization;
Ability to work independently and exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment and discretion;
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology;
Strong understanding of evidence‑based practice, medical guidelines, and state and federal healthcare regulations;
Written and verbal communication skills.
