Operating Room Registered Nurse
This position requires a registered nurse to work in an outpatient orthopedic surgery center. The nurse will float to other surgical units as needed. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday. The center opens at 5:45 AM and usually finishes by 5:00 PM. Start times may vary based on the day's census. Late day coverage is expected on a rotational basis with other staff.
The average daily census is approximately 30 patients. The nurse will care for patients ranging from 2 to 100 years old. Nurses in this role are required to float to the main operating room, pain management procedural area, and same-day surgery as needed. Interventional pain management is located on the same campus. Staffing includes an outpatient surgery RN circulator, RN preop/PACU, surgery tech, and other support roles.
Electives will include an array of orthopedic procedures such as total joint replacements, arthroscopy, and more. The nurse must respond to emergencies by calling for assistance when necessary. Travelers should be flexible with scheduling and adhere to the floating requirements. No holidays or weekends will be scheduled for this role. Reference checks are required before starting the position. Candidates must have a permanent address greater than 50 miles from the facility.
Travelers may be placed on call once per pay period. There is a 60-minute return call requirement if placed on call.
