Job Objective:
In coordination with leadership, oversees the assigned cardiac lab daily clinical operations, including practice standards, performing optimal staff scheduling, meeting budgets, implementing quality improvements, and organizing the daily activities to ensure effective and efficient management of staff and patient flow. Actively participates in and includes staff in performance improvement activities leading to performance excellence. Assists leadership in monitoring and improving compliance with all state and federal laws, regulatory and accreditation compliance.
Education:
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s in Nursing
Required:
California Registered Nurse (RN) license, American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and ACLS; successful basic EKG exam Preferred:
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or related certification as applicable to assigned department
Required:
Three (3) years of nursing (RN) experience in cardiac services Preferred:
Leadership experience in cardiac services

Supervises:Registered Nurses, Radiology Techs, Cardiovascular Techs, Scheduling and Equipment Coordinator, Inventory Coordinator and other staff as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:Ability to act as a professional role model for staff, Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations, Ability to assess shift staffing needs consistent with patient mix, census and acuity levels, Ability to be detail-oriented without losing sight of the larger picture, Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information, Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner, Ability to plan and prioritize individual and team workload, Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications, Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, Knowledge of supporting cardiac services organization
Essential Responsibilities- 1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- 2. Ensures that safe, high-quality patient care is provided in compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements and professional standards (ACC, The Joint Commission).
- 3. Provides direct patient care as needed; provides break, lunch and backup for staff as needed.
- 4. Ensures all levels of nursing skills and competencies are met .
- 5. Supervises all assigned staff to include hiring, orienting, training, evaluating and coaching; escalates employee performance concerns to leadership and provides documentation for counseling and performance improvement plans (PIPs) as necessary.
- 6. Assists with managing and controlling department expenditures within established budgets.
- 7. Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures.
- 8. Monitors department specific standards of care/practice.
- 9. Assists with the development of nursing process improvement projects and communicates resultant data in conjunction with the Unit Based Councils (UBC).
- 10. In coordination with leadership, supports the cardiac services goals and daily clinical operations, including practice standards, overall room activity, staffing, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement.
- 11. Develops and implements action plans in collaboration with leadership to improve staff development.
- 12. Facilitates availability of necessary equipment, material resources, and needed supplies on a daily and/or case by case basis.
