Position SummaryTELLER I – Under general supervision, perform limited transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency using a computer. Provide basic cash receipt and payment services, maintain accurate transactional records, balance the cash drawer daily according to the Teller Accuracy Guidelines, refer members to the Member Service Representative for product information and/or services that best meet their financial needs, and watch for counterfeit monetary instruments.
TELLER II – Under general supervision, efficiently perform limited and routine transactional duties to serve members while meeting established transactional goals. Provide basic cash receipt and payment services, maintain accurate records, balance each day’s operation, and refer members as appropriate. Serve as a mentor for newly hired Teller I incumbents, demonstrate knowledge of basic new member account opening processes, explain ATM operations and online banking features, and remain vigilant against fraud and counterfeit instruments.

- Referrals – Recognizes and acts on referral opportunities, asks questions to confirm potential referrals, makes benefit statements about appropriate product categories, and meets referral goals.
- High School Diploma (general studies) – Required
- General Education Degree (GED) – In lieu of H.S. Diploma
- Teller I – Six (6) months Cash Handling/Sales/Customer Service/Teller Experience – Required
- Teller II – Twelve (12) months Cash Handling/Sales/Customer Service/Teller Experience – Required
- Adherence to BSA, Privacy Act & Elder Abuse reporting is a requirement.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to learn and apply procedures.
There may be circumstances related to MECU business operations that require you to report to a different branch/work location. As a teller, you must also be willing to provide service to members through multiple channels, including branches and ITM (Interactive Teller Machines) terminals.
CompensationSalary range per hour, depending on experience and qualifications:
- Teller I: $15.00 – $19.92
- Teller II: $15.43 – $21.59

Regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, keyboards or controls; talk and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or kneel. Must regularly lift and/or move files and equipment up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close focus and extended computer screen viewing.
