The Emergency Department at Northwest Hospital sees over 60,000 patients per year and has 49 beds. It treats major and minor illnesses, typically related to cardiac, stroke and behavioral health, as well as orthopedic injuries or minor trauma. A rapid care area is designated for minor illnesses. Staff members are outgoing, positive, and must use strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status and implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms.
Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Unit Manager and Unit charge nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse utilizes a general understanding of the principles of nursing and basic physical assessment skills in the development and implementation of individualized nursing care plans. The nurse ensures that the needs of patients are met, assists in the orientation and supervision of nursing personnel, and attends to the daily operations of the unit on a per shift, unit level, assuming responsibilities of a leadership role as needed.
Requirements- Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field
