- Report to the Practice Manager or Ambulatory Practice Coordinator, with input from physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers
- Greet patients and visitors courteously while maintaining privacy and confidentiality
- Serve as a central communication source in patient care delivery
- Collect complete and accurate information from patients and callers
- Perform patient check-in, registration, scheduling and demographic verification
- Register patients in the computer system and ensure demographic and fiscal data accuracy
- Schedule, reschedule and cancel appointments
- Obtain and enter referrals and collect co-pays
- Monitor patient and visitor flow and proactively resolve flow issues
- Liaise between patients, practice staff and other areas to support optimal service delivery
- Maintain a clean, welcoming reception area and clear signage
- Monitor audio/visual programming and volume levels
- Contact appropriate departments for repairs or services and follow through
- Ensure Spanish translation services are provided when needed
- High School diploma or GED required
- 1–3 years related work experience required
- Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English
- Ability to comprehend and converse in English
- Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies
- Ability to interact respectfully with employees, professional staff and external contacts
- Ability to provide professional, service-oriented customer service and remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to perform sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally, with occasional walking and standing
- Medical Admin Assistant Certificate 1 preferred
Demonstrates strong patient communication and administrative skills, ensuring accurate patient registration, scheduling, and effective liaison between patients and healthcare staff. Proficient in maintaining confidentiality and providing exceptional customer service in a healthcare environment.
