Youth Development Worker- Middle School

21ST CENTURY – YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WORKER – MIDDLE SCHOOL

The 21st Century Youth Development Worker plays a key role in supporting middle school students through academic support, enrichment, and relationship-building in a high-quality out-of-school time program. This position is ideal for educators, future teachers, youth workers, or college students passionate about helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

This is a part-time position (16 hours/week, Monday-Thursday, 1:30-5:30) during the school year with potential for summer hours. $20.77 per hour.

• Support a small group of middle school students during academic support (homework) time
• Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to monitor student needs
• Design and facilitate engaging enrichment activities aligned with program goals
• Help create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment that strengthens students’ connection to school
• Model positive behavior, build strong relationships, and support social-emotional development
• Participate in monthly staff meetings and ongoing professional development
• Contribute to a team-focused, mission-driven program culture
• Complete other related duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in a BA program in a related field
• Meets Massachusetts EEC (DEEC) School Age Group Leader qualifications
• At least 1 year of experience working with children or in an out-of-school time setting
• Ability to work with students in a nurturing, structured, and safety-focused environment
• Enthusiasm, creativity, patience, and professionalism
• Strong communication skills and openness to supervision and feedback
• Ability to problem-solve and support conflict resolution in age-appropriate ways
• Successful completion of a CORI background check
