Salary: 57,416 (entry level)
Position OverviewWe are seeking a passionate and creative Music Teacher to design and deliver individualized music instruction for students within the framework of Daily Life Therapy®. This role blends music education, therapeutic practice, and collaboration to support student development in a dynamic, mission-driven school environment.
As a Music Teacher, you will play a vital role in helping students build confidence, self-expression, and independence through meaningful musical experiences.
Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development & Instruction
- Design, develop, and implement individualized music curricula aligned with Daily Life Therapy® principles
- Deliver engaging music instruction as a core component of each student’s educational program
- Maintain familiarity with the full school curriculum to support classroom coverage when needed
Assessment, Reporting & Collaboration
- Prepare and present quarterly music progress reports to the Master Teacher
- Develop educational documentation including assessments, IEP goals, and progress reports
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and administrators
- Attend daily division meetings, teacher meetings, and in-service trainings
Student Engagement & Enrichment
- Coordinate student participation in Massachusetts Very Special Arts programs and other community activities
- Create a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment that reflects student involvement and creativity
- Actively participate in all student activities, including physical exercise and movement-based programming
Professional Practice & School Community
- Maintain open, respectful, and confidential communication with parents and caregivers
- Respond promptly and professionally to parent inquiries in accordance with school procedures
- Contribute as a collaborative team member and support school-wide initiatives and events
- Serve on the Event Committee to help plan and coordinate school activities
- Support classroom teachers with Daily Life Therapy activities as needed throughout the day
- Adhere to all school policies, student rights, and applicable regulations
Additional Duties
- Order and manage music materials and supplies as needed
- Continue professional growth through ongoing study of Daily Life Therapy® and current music education practices
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Master Teacher, Division Directors, or Director of Programming
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or a related field
- Strong initiative, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, collaborative environment
- Physical ability to engage in an active school day, including standing, lifting, squatting, and jogging
- Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives through creative, therapeutic music education
