Job Description
The Elementary classroom teacher will facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through academic courses of study and implement district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.

The ideal candidate will:

* Collaborate with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.

* Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

* Promote equity and appreciation of diversity

* Maintain classroom management

* Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement

* Plan and deliver effective instruction

* Execute the subject matter knowledge requirements specific for Elementary Teachers, including:

* Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, to students, utilizing the district's course of study and other appropriate learning activities

* Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter

* Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student

* Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, and discovery

* Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction

* Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in

* assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems

* Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive
displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers

* Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids appropriate for grade level

* Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district and state testing program

* Participates in curriculum development programs as required.

* Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Building Principal
