The Randolph Community Middle School Social Studies teacher will facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through academic courses of study and implement district approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.

The ideal candidate will:

* Collaborate with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum.

* Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

* Promote equity and appreciation of diversity

* Maintain classroom management

* Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement

* Plan and deliver effective instruction using the Investigating History curriculum

* Execute the subject matter knowledge requirements specific for Middle School Social Studies Teachers, including but not limited to:

* Instructing students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

* Providing individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.

* Plans and guides discussions of current problems against background of geographical environment and history of area being studied.

* Developing an understanding of the contributions of racial, religious, and political groups to American culture.

* Developing knowledge of political and economic systems of other nations and their influence on personal freedom, education, and living standards.

* Encouraging students to become aware of the complexity and inter-relations of local, state, national, and world problems.

* Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Building Principal
