Salary: $57,416 (entry level)

As an Art Teacher
, you will play a critical role in helping students express themselves creatively while supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Position Overview

The Art Teacher is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing individualized art curricula for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder within the Daily Life Therapy® framework. This role blends artistic instruction, therapeutic practice, and collaboration to create meaningful, engaging learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities Art Instruction & Program Development
  • Develop and implement an Art Program as a core component of Daily Life Therapy®
  • Design individualized art curricula that support student expression, creativity, and development
  • Maintain and oversee a student ceramics program
  • Order, organize, and manage art materials and supplies
Assessment, Documentation & Collaboration
  • Prepare and present quarterly art progress reports to the Master Teacher
  • Develop educational documentation including assessments, IEP goals, objectives, and progress reports
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with teachers, therapists, and administrators
  • Attend teacher meetings, in-service trainings, and daily division meetings
Student Engagement & School Community
  • Coordinate student participation in local community art activities and events
  • Create a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment that reflects student involvement
  • Participate fully in student programming, including physical activities such as lifting, standing, squatting, and jogging one to three miles daily
Professional Practice & Family Communication
  • Maintain open, respectful, and professional relationships with parents and caregivers
  • Respond promptly and discreetly to parent inquiries following established procedures
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Teamwork & Additional Support
  • Serve as an active member of the Event Committee to plan and support school-wide events
  • Support classroom teachers with Daily Life Therapy activities as needed throughout the day Adhere to all school policies related to student rights, personnel, and governing agencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Master Teacher, Division Directors, or Director of Programming
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education or a related field
  • Massachusetts Teaching License
  • Strong initiative, organizational skills, and excellent communication abilities

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder or in special education settings
  • Training or experience in Daily Life Therapy®

Additional Skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, team-based environment
